Info for Teachers

Don't forget to update Berkshire KFA with any changes to your classes or personal information.

You will also need to update your own class details and personal information with
EMDP. You can do this via their new Online system by clicking on "Login" on their website.

CPD TRAINING PERIODS and MANDATORY TRAINING HOURS
Current training period is
1 January 2016 - 31 December 2019

Requirements

  • All teachers and trainers to hold current First Aid Certificate.
  • L3 teachers will be required to complete 18 CPD hours (10 hours of Unit 1 + 8 hours of Unit 2).
  • L2 Chair Based Older Adults and Exercise to Music teachers will be required to complete 10 CPD hours.
  • Trainers will be required to complete 15 training hours AND 18 L3 teacher CPD hours.


Length of training days
Attending a full training day will provide teachers with 6 CPD hours.
Attending either the morning or the afternoon session will provide teachers with 3 CPD hours.

Cost of training days
Active teachers: £35 per day. £17.50 per half day.
Non active teachers: £50 per day. £25 per half day.

Berkshire KFA Teachers’ Meeting

Please confirm by 31 July if you can/cannot attend.

There is no agenda, just an opportunity to will discuss future plans, swap teaching tips and ideas for music, share experiences and any problems or concerns and enjoy the company of other KFA teachers – something there’s never enough time for at events!

Tea, coffee, juice and nibbles will be provided.

If you can’t make it for the whole evening, call in for an hour or so.

Topic : Choreography - the Cube
Unit 2 training: element 8

We welcome Frances back to Hampshire once again for the challenging topic of Choreography – The Cube a CPD Day which we are sure you will enjoy!!

This is a stand-alone session or can be a progression from the Diagonals training day.

AIM
To use the spatial concept of the cube to create interesting and challenging classwork.

Intended Learning Outcomes by the end of the session teachers will be able to:

  • Identify and locate in movement the eight spatial locations of the cube resulting from combinations of directions and spatial body actions.
  • Demonstrate over edge, over face and central transitions when linking the spatial locations.
  • Develop and accurately perform a choreographed phrase of movement based on the cube suitable for classwork.
  • Discuss the physical benefits that can be achieved when working using the cube.


Trainer: Frances Dickins (East Midlands KFA)

Frances has recently been appointed to the role of National Training Director for the KFA but continues to deliver classes locally as she believes it is essential to keep in touch with the grass roots of the Association.

Frances says, “I am passionate about the KFA and Laban movement, it has played a big part in my life and given me many enjoyable experiences and I hope that I can pass some of my enthusiasm on to you in this session.”
